Nebraska men’s basketball · Oklahoma City, March 2026

The notes from the two biggest wins in Nebraska basketball history.

Kent Pavelka’s own broadcast notes — the sheets under his microphone as he called both games, covered edge to edge in his handwriting. Reproduced at nearly eighteen inches across and set back to back in one display: a keepsake of the weekend Nebraska waited sixty years for.

One double-sided display, photographed from both sides and labelled FRONT and BACK. Each face holds a broadcast spotting board in clear acrylic beside a scarlet panel carrying the Nebraska N, “Kent Pavelka’s Broadcast Notes”, the opponent, the date and the tournament round. The front is the Troy game, Huskers 76–47, signed across the sheet in red and dated; the back is Vanderbilt, Huskers 74–72, with “Sweet 16” written across it in red and Kent’s signature boxed in blue. It stands on a base finished as a Nebraska basketball floor — pale maple boards, scarlet keys, Big Ten marks, NEBRASKA along both side rails and Herbie at centre court.

One piece, shown from both sides. A prototype mockup — the finished display may differ in small details. The boards are exact reproductions of Kent’s originals, and both can be read in full further down.

Be one of the first 250 to bring it to life.

3 of 250 reserved

This piece exists only if Husker fans call for it. The moment the 250th is reserved, the edition goes into production — no more than 1,000, ever, each one individually numbered.

Two games, one piece

Turn it around.

The front of the display: Kent Pavelka’s spotting board from Nebraska against Troy, signed in red across the sheet, in clear acrylic beside a scarlet panel reading “Nebraska Cornhuskers · Game Notes · Nebraska vs. Troy · March 19, 2026 · NCAA Tournament First Round”, on a base finished as a full basketball floor with Herbie at centre.

The first NCAA Tournament victory in Nebraska men’s basketball history. Kent Pavelka was behind the microphone, and he kept score on these throughout the games.

How big it is

Nearly eighteen inches across.

Not a desk trinket. It holds both sheets at close to the size Kent read them from, and it stands on its own court base — a shelf, a mantel, a desk, anywhere it can be seen from across the room and turned around.

The display standing on a wooden bookshelf beside Nebraska basketball books, a leather basketball with the Nebraska N, framed photographs of a packed arena and a small potted plant. The Troy board faces out, signed in red, on its court base.

This is what the display holds, at the size it is reproduced. Open either board and move around it — the hometowns, the pronunciation notes, the running totals, and the two words he wrote across the middle of the second one.

First round · Nebraska 76–47 Troy. Every number, nickname and reminder on the sheet is in Kent’s hand, written before and during the broadcast.

March 2026

Three days in Oklahoma City.

Sixty years, eight tournaments, no wins. Then two in three days, and a Sweet 16 at the end of it.

  • Two Nebraska players leaping into each other mid-court in celebration, number 15 and a teammate, with number 31 running in behind them and a referee at the edge of the frame. The stand behind is a wall of red, every seat standing.

On the floor, the moment it was over.

Kent Pavelka at the courtside broadcast table in a white quarter-zip and headset, reaching across the table to clasp arms with a grinning Nebraska player in a white Huskers jersey. Behind them the arena screen reads “Vanderbilt Commodores vs Nebraska Cornhuskers”, under “First and Second Rounds” signage, with a packed house standing and photographers crowding in at the right.

The notes behind the call

These were never meant to be memorabilia.

Sitting in front of Kent during a broadcast is a spotting board: player numbers, statistics, matchups, reminders, colour coding, and whatever he adds in pen as the game moves. They are working tools, made to be read at a glance and thrown in a bag afterwards.

A ticket tells you where the game happened. A photograph catches one moment. A box score tells you what happened. These show you what was sitting under his microphone while it happened — including the bit where he wrote Sweet 16 across the middle of the Vanderbilt sheet.

Before you reserve

Are these Kent Pavelka’s actual boards?

They are exact reproductions of them, every pen stroke included. The original sheets stay with Kent.

Is the photograph the finished product?

The boards are exactly as shown. The assembled display is a prototype, so small details of the finished piece may differ.

Why these two games?

Nebraska had played eight NCAA Tournaments and lost all eight games — the only power-conference programme without a win. On 19 March 2026 it beat Troy 76–47, and on 21 March it beat Vanderbilt 74–72 to reach the Sweet 16 for the first time.

When does it arrive?

Production begins once the first 250 are reserved, and we will write with dates as soon as it does.

What if 250 is never reached?

Your order is cancelled and you are refunded in full. Not a credit, not a voucher — the money back.
