Terms of Purchase

The short version

Everything here is the real thing, still in Memorial Stadium today. Worth knowing before you check out:

• This is a pre-order. Nothing leaves the stadium until the season allows. We are taking orders now so we know exactly what to remove, and how carefully. We will keep you posted by email. Every order supports the University of Nebraska.
• It comes as it is. Cleaned, never restored — the wear is the point. Expect scuffs, worn paint, fading and the odd scratch from decades of Husker fans. That wear is the record, not a defect, so it is not grounds for a refund.
• The seat pictures are renderings. Yours will be very close — in working condition, wear and all. The seats are still bolted into Memorial Stadium today, so what you receive is the same seat with its own wear, and either a floor mount or a riser mount depending on where it stood. It folds and sits as it should, and it is sold as it is. Sections and rows vary and cannot be chosen.
• Pickup in Lincoln. Address and dates by email once removal is scheduled. This item cannot be shipped. If you cannot come yourself, a friend or relative can pick it up for you — just write to support@raregoods.com beforehand so we know who to expect. An order not picked up within its window is not refundable, so please plan ahead.
• Delivered to the lower 48. Allow six to eight weeks once it has left the stadium. Street addresses only — not a PO box, and not Alaska, Hawaii or the U.S. territories. We will write when it is on its way.
• All orders are final. Not refundable once placed.

You are shown these points, and asked to agree to them, before every checkout. Only the points that apply to your cart are shown there; the rest of this page is the detail.

1. Pre-order

Everything on this site is still installed in Memorial Stadium. Orders are taken now so that we know exactly what to remove and can plan the work. Removal begins 22 November, after the season, and runs as the stadium schedule allows; we cannot confirm pickup or delivery dates before the pieces are out. We will keep you informed by email as it approaches. Every order supports the University of Nebraska.

2. Condition

Each piece is an original, removed from the building, and is sold in the condition it is in. It is cleaned and made safe to handle; it is not restored, repainted or refinished, because the wear is the record of where it has been. Expect scuffs, worn or chipped paint, fading, marks and scratches, and the occasional repair made during its working life. None of that is a defect, and none of it is grounds for a refund or exchange.

Stadium seats. Because the seats are still bolted into the stadium, the seat images on this site are renderings rather than photographs of the pair you will receive. Yours will be very close to the picture — the same seat, with its own wear — and may have either a floor mount or a riser mount depending on where in the stadium it stood. Every seat is in working condition, folding and sitting as it should, and is sold as it is. Sections, rows and seat numbers vary and cannot be chosen or guaranteed — except through the seat picker, described in section 7.

3. Pickup in Lincoln

Some pieces are too large or too heavy to ship and are picked up in person. Pickup is in the Lincoln, Nebraska area. Once removal is scheduled we will email you the address and a window of dates; we cannot confirm either before then. Bring a vehicle suited to the piece — the size and weight are listed on its page.

If you cannot come yourself, a friend or relative is welcome to pick it up on your behalf. Write to support@raregoods.com beforehand with their name so we know who to expect. An order that is not picked up within its window is not refundable, so please plan ahead and tell us early if the dates are a problem — we will do what we can.

4. Delivery

Pieces that ship are delivered to street addresses in the contiguous United States. We do not ship to PO boxes, to Alaska or Hawaii, or to U.S. territories. Allow six to eight weeks from the piece leaving the stadium; we will email when it is on its way. Delivery charges, where they apply, are shown at checkout.

5. Removal and handling

A removal and handling charge is added once per item to every order. The amount varies by item, according to what that piece takes to remove, prepare and handle, and however many different items are in one order the total charge stops at $50. It is shown in your cart before checkout. Crews remove each piece from the building by hand; the charge covers that work and is not optional.

6. Refunds

All orders are final and non-refundable. This includes an order not picked up within its window, and it includes the wear described in section 2. The one exception is ours, not yours: if a piece cannot be removed from Memorial Stadium, or is damaged during removal, you are refunded in full. If a piece arrives damaged in transit, or is not what you ordered, write to us within seven days of receipt and we will put it right.

7. Keeping your own seats

Season ticket holders in the south end, the lower west side or the red chairbacks can choose the exact seats they sat in at buygbr.com/seats/pick. Those orders are made under the following points in place of the seat and refund points above, and they are shown, and agreed to, before that checkout in the same way.

• The picture is a rendering. What arrives is your own seats, with their own wear. Your seats are bolted into Memorial Stadium today. They come to you with the scuffs, worn paint and fading they earned, on either a floor mount or a riser mount depending on where your row stood. They fold and sit as they should.
• Your seats come out before the demolition. That is what the fee a seat pays for. Demolition begins in Thanksgiving week and everything left in the building goes with it. Before then a crew goes to your seat specifically, marks and protects it, removes it by hand rather than by machine, and moves it to our storage outside the stadium — out of the demolition altogether. It is then tagged and kept until you collect it.
• We check the account. Every saved seat is checked against Athletics’ records before it is pulled. One claim per seat, and the earliest claim stands. If a seat turns out not to have been yours, that part of your order is refunded in full.
• Pickup in Lincoln, by appointment. Stadium seats are never shipped — this one is collected. Your seats come out at the end of the season, before construction begins, and are held for you. We then prepare them and fit the new feet, and write with pickup details and times in the months after the season — you will not need to chase us for a date. Pickup is within fifteen minutes of the stadium, and somebody else can collect on your behalf with the QR code from your confirmation.
• Refundable only if we cannot get yours. Otherwise the order is final once placed. If your specific seats cannot be recovered intact, you choose: every dollar back, or the same seats from the same sections with the removal fee returned. Short of that, an order cannot be cancelled — the fee pays for work done on your seats specifically — and ordinary wear is not a fault.

8. The personalised sign

A sign designed at buygbr.com/sign is cut from reclaimed Memorial Stadium bleacher wood and engraved to order with the buyer’s own wording. The wood comes out of the stadium with the bleachers; no particular piece is taken out for a buyer, so an order of signs alone is made under the following points in place of the pre-order, condition and collection points above. They are shown, and agreed to, before that checkout in the same way, and the buyer confirms the exact design before it can be ordered at all.

• Made just for you. Cut and engraved to order from reclaimed Memorial Stadium bleacher wood, then shipped to your door. We email you the day it ships. There is nothing to collect in Lincoln and no stadium removal fee on it.
• Engraved exactly as you designed it. Your words, spelling and lettering, just as you confirmed them. Want to change something? Go back and do it before you check out. A person checks every design before it is cut. If we find a problem with a design, we will contact you before it is cut.
• No two boards alike. Yours has its own grain, knots and marks, so it will differ a little from the picture. The picture shows your design on a sample board. Yours is cut from a different plank that spent decades in the stadium, so it carries its own grain and its own wear. That is the material, not a fault.
• Made for you, so it’s final. Once it’s ordered, a sign can’t be changed, cancelled or refunded.

9. Your agreement

Before checkout you are shown the short version above and asked to agree to it. We record that you did, the date and time, and the wording that was live at the time, and that record is attached to your order. Continuing to checkout means you accept the pre-order arrangement, the as-is condition, the collection or delivery terms that apply to your order, and that all orders are final.
